Further Blog Posts I Wish I had Written

Now and then, I come across a blog post that really speaks to me.  It usually says, "Why didn't you think of that?" Here are a few more that I wish I'd written, and some clips to go with them.
Opera Obsession blogger Lucy says she “learned to love opera via studio recordings; then I saw Ponnelle's Cenerentola production and realized that there were worlds even beyond the fabulous music.”
Now, when someone tells her that opera is "just not their thing," Lucy responds, "What kind of opera?"

The sextet from Act 2 of Ponnelle's Cenerentola.

I came across this 2009 post by Opera Chic while researching the Robert Carsen Tosca. Here she discusses the negative reaction New York audiences had to Luc Bondy’s Tosca at the Met.

(Editor's note: Please! It wasn’t regie, it was just boring. While I did not find it a particularly noteworthy production—good or bad—I thought the staging of final leap was pretty cool; but I seem to be in the minority in that regard.)

Not only does Opera Chic write a great (if slightly wandering) editorial post, the comments add up to an interesting discussion on modern opera staging.

Unconvincing pouting, pawing, and groping at the Met.
