From Euronews, January 22, 2015, Herr Kaufmann discusses how he takes care of his voice. And Sir Tony chats about working with JK, the Andrea Chenier, and opera in the cinema. (Unfortunately, it looks like the U.S. distributor picked up only the ballets this year.)
Check your local cinemas for February showings. My local art-house cinema is showing "Andrea Chenier" Feb 24, and I know this only because I'm on their email list....and I immediately reserved a ticket! This is typical of ROH....they force the US to wait at least a month after their so-called worldwide "Live Cinema" opera broadcasts. Same thing happened with "Manon Lescaut". I'd really like to know why this is. Any guesses?
ReplyDeleteI'll check again. I didn't have any luck on my first searches.
DeleteMany Landmark Theaters are carrying the ROH Opera in Cinema series this year. In Indianapolis the showing will be February 22. The ROH ballets are distributed by Fathom Events, distributor of the Met Live in HDs. But the Met has a non-compete clause in their contract with them preventing Fathom from distributing any opera content other than the Met.

Thanks. I could find the ballets (no interest) but not the operas. I will check again. SOMEone was showing them in my area a few years ago. My Dad and I saw the La Scala Lohengin and the ROH Boheme.
