Mr. Pisaroni discusses how Bach fits into his career, as a performer of both concert and opera repertoire.
This interview was conducted by Stepan
Atamian at WKCR on December 22, 2014. Thanks, Stepan, for this great interview. Luca also talks about Handel, and Mozart; singing his first role at the Met; why he went back to Buenos Aries to study voice after he'd already made his professional debut in Europe; the difference between singing opera and oratorios; and why he makes and effort to attend opera and concert performances of his colleagues.
So, Luca, we've got some Handel, but let's hear more Bach from you!
He's singing at the COC next season. We're about to find out in what next week.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what it is!
DeleteIt looks like it'll be Rossini's Maometto II, the Santa Fe production from about 2012, directed by David Alden.
DeleteCool. Can't wait for your review!
DeleteLove the video!.....but the first link in your text for the interview just goes to WKCR page and I can't figure out how to actually play the audio of the interview. Any suggestions? Also the second link in your text, "interview", isn't findable. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I see the second link was broken, so I deleted it.
DeleteThe first link should take you to a page called Luca Pisaroni Interview. Right below the title, there should be a little speaker icon and a "play" arrow.
If you can't get there directly, you can get to the interview(s) by clicking on "archives" on the Home page, then clicking on Classical Archives, then clicking on Luca (about 2/3 of the way down the page. Hope that works for you!
Thanks Rob. Problem is on the iPad.....no speaker icons on WKCR pages, but they do appear when accessed on the computer. BTW....Did you know that a Columbia U. professor invented FM in the 30's, and the first FM station was on the Columbia campus? ..... WKCR! They do an annual Bach Festival, about 10 days before and up to New Year's Eve, 24/7, ALL BACH!
DeleteThank you, iOS for refusing to be compatible with Flash.
DeleteI did not know that WKCR is the first FM station. But my Dad probably did. radio and radar and transmittery stuff are things he knew a lot about!
