Awarded by the Foundation "Alliance for Children" for his
commitment to children and young people in particular in the promotion in the
field of classical music, Jonas Kaufmann received the "Commitment
Award" of the "Alliance for Children" Foundation. The ceremony
was on 25 June in the Hubertus Hall on Nymphenburg Palace in the presence of
Secretary of State Christine Haderthauer; the award was presented by Nikolaus
Bachler, the artistic director of the Bavarian State Opera.

Of course, we
fanboys and girls want to know everything about JK, but at
the same time, I admire him for keeping his private life private. As far as we
know, he has a wife and three children (his children are mentioned in the article, which is appropriate since this is a foundation called the Alliance for Children). And that's about all we know. Given
his magnificent voice and sensitive interpretive and acting skills, I guess
that's really all we need to know.
P.S. in addition to the video webcast of the new Trovatore on July 5, the opening night on the 27th of June will be broadcast live on BR-Klassik radio at 7pm CET!! (That should be about 2 PM Eastern)
