Wagner Birthday Concert with Kaufmann, Thielemann, and the Dresden Staatskapelle

From 27 May to 2 June 2013, MDR FIGARO in concert is looping a Wagner 200th Birthday concert from the Dresden Frauenkirche.

"On the eve of Wagner's birthday, Christian Thielemann conducted overtures and great tenor scenes from Wagner's operas. He was joined by Jonas Kaufmann, “one of the most sought after Wagner tenors of our time.” [ed. - That's putting it mildly!] In memoriam Hans Werne Henze, the Staatskapelle performed Henze's Fraternité – Air pour l'orchester."

Program
Wagner: Overture to "The Flying Dutchman"
Wagner: "A Faust Overture" D minor (version 1855)
Wagner: Rienzi's Prayer ("Almighty God Father") and Overture to "Rienzi"
Wagner: Prelude, "Grail narration" of Lohengrin (original version) from "Lohengrin"
Henze: "Fraternité" Air pour l'orchester (1999)
Wagner: "Rome-story" of Tannhäuser ("fervor in the heart") and Overture to "Tannhauser"

Jonas Kaufmann, tenor
Staatskapelle Dresden
Christian Thielemann, Conductor

The concert streams in a loop, alternating with a Baroque cantata by Homilius.
Recorded 21/05/2013.  Originally broadcast by MDR FIGARO 24/05/2013

Update 05/29/2013: There's also a video at liveweb.arte.de. It is not available for viewing in the U.S. but I think my European readers will be able to access it. And I am guessing some enterprising pirate will get it out to a broader audience soon.

Update 06/20/2013: You now can view the three JK excerpts at YT, or over at this post on Regie, or Not Regie?
