In the spirit of bloggers on that other major blog site, who get much more detailed stats than I do, I decided, since it's a new year, to check my 2012 stats. Based on the names that draw people to my blog, I’m thinking about adding to my parenthetical subtitle up there.
Since I started the blog in mid-July of 2012, it seems
the main search attractions are (in this order) Jonas Kaufmann, Philippe Jaroussky,
and Rolando Villazón. For Herr Kaufmann, there's been special interest
in my posts about his Lohengrin incarnations (and why wouldn't there be?). (Somewhat like the Earworm, who is my unofficial blog-mom–this
will probably come as news to her—who found that she is apparently now writing
a blog about Der
Rosenkavalier, my blog seems to be turning into a Jonas Kaufmann fan site.)
Stupid is a key word that brings people (possibly by accident) to RorNR:
the first two Stupid Reviewer Comments posts are in the
all-time top 10, with the third just under. As other bloggers have noted, current events are a draw: the La
Scala Lohengrin posts and Marthaler's Sale at Zurich this fall
have drawn readers.
I also seem to get traffic on posts that point readers to other opera blogs, and I should take a moment to shout out to my idols and mentors in the blogosphere for giving me encouragement, support, advice, and comments to keep me on my toes: most especially The Earworm, operaramblings, Likely Impossibilities, and operaobsession. Thanks!

So, in top 10 order, here are the top ten posts of 2012 (which happen also to be the top 10 posts of all time...for now.)

Oh by the way, I won’t be adding names to the subtitle for now. Somehow,
With frequent gratuitous mentions of Malin Hartelius, Dorothea Röschmann, Luca Pisaroni, Jonas Kaufmann, Philippe Jaroussky, and Rolando Villazón,
seems rather unwieldy. And besides,
what about Anne Sofie von Otter...and Miah Persson?
Haha - I'm a blog-mom! (And to think I started out blogging, years and years ago, about . . .wait for it . . . Battlestar Galactica fan fiction. Not writing it, mind - writing about it. On the whole, I think I prefer opera.)
ReplyDeleteMaybe what your subtitle needs is a sort of rotating widget, so the "with frequent gratuitous mentions of . . . ." bit displays three or four different names each time?
A widget! Of course!! good suggestion. I used to know how to write code for a rolling banner...hmmmmmm. Well, thanks again for mentoring me this year.
DeleteI'm glad to see you have adopted the practice of including gratuitous cat pictures in your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I started using them to in an attempt to soften the snarkicity of the Stupid Reviewer Comments posts. Having no kitteh of my own anymore, I like to add them in gratuitously when I can. :)
