Luca Pisaroni – A James Dean for Mozart (According to the Salzburg Festspielfreunde)

"Luca Pisaroni has a very special relationship with the Salzburg Festival. He has been performing here for as long as he has been an opera singer, and throughout his career he has had an association with the Festival. In 2013 he is singing Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, an opera in which he reads between the lines."

It's kind of hard to believe he has been singing in Salzburg for only 11 years. At the same time, it's hard to believe he's already been singing in Salzburg for 11 years!

Read more about Luca in this very cool magazine I just "discovered." There are also articles about Malin Hartelius and Michael Schade to name just a few. Here is the index to the latest issue, plus a link to all available issues. Finally here's a link to the main Friends of the Salzburg Festival website

  1. I love Luca Pisaroni and his dogs are the most adorable creatures in the opera world! Was his first opera in the Salzburg Festival that La Clemenza di Tito production with Vesselina Kasarova and Dorothea Roschmann??

    1. I think his first Salzburg gig was as Masetto in the Kusej Don Giovanni, with Harnoncourt conducting. The DVD that's available was done a few years later. The bio says he was born in 1975 and debuted in Salzburg at the age of 26, so that must have been in 2001? (counting on fingers.)
